History & Legacy
The front of the building is a 16th Century Guild Hall, most renowned for being the room where John and Mary Shakespeare signed the legal documents confirming their marriage at St John’s Church across the road. The hall was extended at the rear in 1960-61 with a light and spacious hall, stage, dressing rooms and kitchen. Productions such as Sister Boniface, Shakespeare and Hathaway and more have used the hall as a filming location.
